--THE GOLD SAUCER--

The Gold Saucer is often known for it's extravagant design, thousands of games, and beautiful workers. It's also known to have one of the most engaging and entertaining forms of Chocobo Racing, where one could place bets on which Chocobo would make it to the finish line first. Jazalin was one of the jockeys for these races, even before her name was Jazalin.She was formerly known as "Yui", a small Viera who knew the tracks like the back of their hand. They were unstoppable with each race, and were one of the reasons why jockeys were forced into anonymity during races, only to be unmasked after the the event for the world to see. They were the best at what they did, even if they hated it.Yui didn't have a choice in where they were raised. After the death of their mother, their father had suddenly disappeared, leaving behind nothing but a massive debt that was bestowed upon Yui. The debt was brought to the attention of the Ramalini family, a powerful group of individuals that ran the deepest parts of the Gold Saucer. Manderville owned it, while the Ramalini took control of the darker side, even if Godbert was blind to it all.Yui was brought in at a young age, and forced into work. They did all they could to try and settle the debt passed to them, but no matter how much they earned, it was never enough. The only thing that brought them any joy, was the time them spent with the chocobos, and the others brought in to pay off their own family debts. They bonded as their own family.Overtime, Yui had discovered a passion for taking care of the chocobos, and eventually learned to ride them. A former Chocobo Jockey by the name of Rydil had taken interest in Yui's developing skills as a rider, and offered to be their mentor. When they turned eighteen, Yui participated in their first race. In the end, they lost by only a few inches.They became a well known name within the Gold Saucer, slowing rising the ranks of stardom as one of the most dedicated and talented jockeys at the Gold Saucer. Even during their loses, they held their head up high for the audience. But something ate at Yui the more they raced.Lexian Ramalini, the head of the Ramalini family, was secretly rigging a majority of the special event races. Jockey's were forced to throw matches in order to keep things more interesting for the casino, with profits skyrocketing towards the Ramalini's pockets. Yui hated the rigged raced. They were confident in their skills as a jockey to feel disgusted each time they were forced to throw a race... Until one day, they had enough.During one of the biggest events of the year, Yui fought back against the restraints forced on them. They raced as fast as they could, not caring about the consequences they were going to be met with. They were tired of the debt, of the abuse, of the constant fear of the family's firm grasp. As they took off their helmet, listening to the crowd cheer for them... All they wanted to do was win.The beating lasted several days underneath the casino. Each higher up of the family taking their turns beating Yui repeatedly, leaving them just on the brink of death before letting their wounds heal, only to repeat the cycle. Lexian was the one who was going to deliver the final blow, but he wanted to make sure every moment was agony for Yui.The family that Yui had once come to call their own was nowhere to be seen. The only one who would visit was Rydil, often sneaking in food, water, and healing vials to make sure Yui kept their energy. Yui could see the anger and sadness in Ry's face, a look that Yui hadn't seen in anyone for a long, long time.The stormy night Lexian had set up for Yui's execution, Rydil had snuck back in once more, breaking the restraints that held Yui up. The two of them fled through the underbellies of the casino, trying their hardest to make their way to freedom. A chocobo was waiting for them, one that Yui had grown the closest to and eventually named Midnight. Just as they escaped, a sudden gunshot rang out through the storm. Yui watched as Rydil fell to the ground."Forget me, just go!"Yui tried their hardest to bring Rydil to their knees, but the wound caused by the shot was too severe. They begged and pleaded for Rydil to get up, but they knew it was falling on deaf ears. Rydil pushed with all of his strength to get Yui to move.All Yui saw, as they climbed onto the chocobo and ran off as fast as they could... Was the group that Yui was raised with striking down Rydil, with Lexian watching from the back.(MORE TO BE ADDED OVER TIME)
